Five children from five different cultures and in five different decades grow up in the same building on the Lower East Side of New York City over the course of a century. I am a third-generation resident of the Lower East Side, and the story begins with my grandmother and continues to the present.

I was commissioned by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s Wall of Fame series which pairs an artist with a renowned Jewish person and a quotation. The posters are distributed to Jewish organizations, schools and community centers.I was paired with Jonas Salk, with the quote: “Intuition will tell the thinking mind where to look next.”
It is an honor to be in the company of Milton Glaser, Seymour Chwast, Paula Scher and other illustrious artists in the series.

I use animals frequently in my work. Sometimes they are anthropomorphic stand-ins for humans and sometimes they are themselves. Who doesn't love to draw animals?
